Trust & Compliance

1. European-based marketplace
Ships.trade is operated by MB Unit media platform, a Lithuanian small partnership. We take compliance with applicable EU and Lithuanian law seriously and maintain technical and organizational controls intended to support that compliance.
2. Sanctions and trade compliance
Ships.trade does not permit the Service to be used to facilitate transactions that violate applicable sanctions, export-control, or trade-restriction laws.
Automated checks compare available vessel IMO information with sanctions-related vessel data used by Ships.trade. A possible match is a risk indicator, not a final legal determination. Ships.trade may restrict publication, messaging, or access while a serious compliance risk is reviewed, and may remove content or restrict accounts where appropriate.
Our screening is an additional marketplace safeguard. It does not replace the independent sanctions, ownership, beneficial-ownership, export-control, AML, or other due-diligence obligations of transaction participants.
3. AI-assisted processing
Ships.trade uses AI-assisted systems to reduce manual work and make maritime information easier to discover and understand. Depending on the feature in use, AI may help us:
- classify incoming commercial emails and broker circulars;
- extract, normalize, and structure vessel and Wanted Request information;
- create or update structured marketplace listings from commercial communications;
- translate listing titles and eligible internal marketplace messages; and
- identify spam and abusive internal messages.
Sanctions screening and Sale Listing–Wanted Request matching are separate automated, data-based processes and are not described as AI decisions. AI-generated results may contain errors. Important vessel, commercial, and compliance information should always be independently verified.
4. Marketplace safety and moderation
Ships.trade uses automated listing checks, duplicate detection, message spam checks, and moderation tools to help protect the marketplace. Automated signals can be incomplete or incorrect. Where content or an account is restricted, the affected user may be given a reason and a way to request review through the available moderation workflow.
Ships.trade does not state that a restriction was reviewed by a person unless that review was actually recorded.
5. Independent due diligence
Marketplace participants must independently verify vessel identity, ownership, beneficial ownership, seller or buyer authority, sanctions status, technical details, availability, and transaction terms before relying on a listing or entering into a transaction.
A screening result, verification label, translation, match, or moderation outcome is not a certification, endorsement, legal opinion, or guarantee.
6. Report a compliance concern
You can report suspected fraud, sanctions or trade-restriction concerns, incorrect ownership or authority, illegal content, impersonation, privacy concerns, spam, or another marketplace issue through our dedicated reporting mechanism.
